Dutch Mantell weighs in on Sheamus’ return and online criticism
Legendary wrestling figure Dutch Mantell recently shared his thoughts on social media criticism surrounding Sheamus’ return to WWE RAW after an eight-month hiatus.
While some fans online made comments about Sheamus’ physical appearance, Mantell defended the four-time WWE world champion, suggesting that while he may have gained some weight during his time away, it wasn’t as significant as some have portrayed.
“I didn’t think he looked that fat. He definitely put a little weight on, but when you told me that, I was expecting to see a much, much heavier Sheamus. Yeah, he put weight on, but he’s not fat,” Mantell commented.
Sheamus had been recovering from a shoulder injury before his return to the ring, with his last match being in August 2023 against Edge on SmackDown.
Mantell also suggested that Sheamus could turn the criticism into an opportunity by documenting his journey back to peak physical condition.
He emphasized that Sheamus could showcase his dedication and intelligence by sharing a video of his transformation on his Celtic Warrior Workouts YouTube channel.
“I think that’d be great for his show. He said, ‘I got heavier because I couldn’t do this, this, this. Now I’m gonna lose the weight. You watch me lose the weight.’ I think it’s great. I think Sheamus might be a lot smarter than those critics out there,” Mantell remarked.
With the WWE Draft approaching, Sheamus is expected to be part of the roster changes, which will unfold over the April 26 to April 29 episodes of SmackDown and RAW.
