In a recent episode of SmackDown, General Manager Nick Aldis announced that Cody Rhodes’ next opponent would be none other than the current United States Champion Logan Paul. The two superstars are set to clash in a Champion vs. Champion showdown at the King and Queen of the Ring event. However, former WWE manager Dutch Mantell has a different opinion on who would make a perfect heel opponent for Cody Rhodes.
Mantell, who was a guest on Wrestling’s Smack Talk, jokingly suggested that Baron Corbin should get a title opportunity against the American Nightmare. Corbin, who recently participated in the King of the Ring brackets, was eliminated by Carmelo Hayes in a first-round match. Despite his recent loss, Mantell believes that Corbin has what it takes to be a top heel and go toe-to-toe with Cody Rhodes.
While Corbin getting a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship may be a pipedream for now, Mantell’s suggestion is an interesting one. Corbin, also known as the Lone Wolf, has a proven track record of being a formidable opponent, and his heel persona would certainly bring an added layer of intrigue to a match against Cody Rhodes.
In the video, Mantell can be seen joking about Corbin’s chances against Rhodes, saying that he would be the perfect heel opponent for the American Nightmare. With Corbin’s recent King of the Ring disappointment behind him, it will be interesting to see if he can bounce back and make a case for himself as a top contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
As for Cody Rhodes, he will have his hands full with Logan Paul at the King and Queen of the Ring event. However, if Mantell’s suggestion becomes a reality, it could lead to an exciting and unpredictable feud between Rhodes and Corbin.
