WWE is bringing back one of its big events, the Slammy Awards, after a hiatus of over three years.
The Slammy Awards first appeared in 1986 and continued until 2015 with 13 editions. However, in December 2020, WWE hosted a one-time event. Throughout its history, the award for “Superstar of the Year” has been a focal point, sparking both praise and controversy.
Now, WWE has announced The Slammys: The Fans Choice Awards, which will be broadcast live on all social media platforms on April 7, from WWE World at WrestleMania.
Some huge events have just been announced for #WWEWorld at #WrestleMania XL – including the return of The #Slammys!

Hosted by Cathy Kelley and WWE Superstar Big E, the event promises special guest appearances from other WWE Superstars and aims to celebrate the best achievements across the WWE Universe over the past year.
Voting is open from today until Wednesday, March 27.
The last “Superstar of the Year” award was received by Drew McIntyre, with Seth Rollins winning it in 2015, marking the last show hosted on RAW. Notably, the last two winners of this award will clash for a world title at WrestleMania this year.
Reflecting on past events, in June 2014, The Shield disbanded, leading to notable rivalries between Seth Rollins and Jon Moxley (then Dean Ambrose).
Meanwhile, Roman Reigns, aiming for the world title, faced setbacks due to an incarcerated hernia that required surgery.
Despite this, he won the “Superstar of the Year” award at the Slammy Awards in December upon his return, which stirred mixed reactions from fans.
Apart from the “Superstar of the Year” award, other notable categories include “Match of the Year,” “Rivalry of the Year,” “Tag Team of the Year,” and “Diva of the Year.”
