Former WWE Superstar Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks, along with renowned wrestler Kazuchika Okada, are rumored to make their way to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) soon.
Additionally, Will Ospreay is anticipated to transition to a full-time performer for AEW as his contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) expires this month. Wrestling legend Booker T recently shared his insights on what AEW should consider when handling these talents.
Mone departed from WWE in 2022 and subsequently competed in NJPW and Stardom. Speculation about her joining AEW has been rife, especially with the announcement of the “Big Business” edition of Dynamite scheduled for March 13 at TD Garden in Boston, her hometown. Fans are eagerly anticipating her potential debut at the event.
Speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T emphasized the importance of integrating Mone, Okada, and Ospreay into meaningful storylines rather than merely showcasing their in-ring abilities.
“You’ve got guys like Will Ospreay and Okada, you’ve got Mone coming in, let’s see what we do with them, let’s see if we can put them in something and really create some good story. That’s what I want to see out of all these guys coming in,” remarked Booker T.
In contrast, wrestling icon Konnan expressed skepticism about Mone’s prospects of becoming a top star in AEW.
He voiced concerns about AEW’s track record in booking its women’s division and feared that Mone might not be utilized effectively or could be involved in subpar storylines, potentially diminishing her impact.
“I think what’s gonna happen is that she’ll come back like a lot of people have come back to a huge pop and huge first two, three-week honeymoon period, and then she won’t be used right or will be put in a stupid angle or something, and she’ll lose a lot of her luster,” shared Konnan.
As the wrestling world eagerly awaits Mone’s next move and potential debut in AEW, the handling of these anticipated signings remains a topic of interest among fans and industry insiders alike.
