In the midst of AEW’s burgeoning talent pool, Willow Nightingale has emerged as a beloved figure and a rising star in the women’s division.
After years on the independent wrestling circuit, Nightingale secured opportunities with both AEW and ROH in 2021, ultimately sealing her fate with AEW in October 2022.
Reflecting on her journey to becoming All Elite, Nightingale shared her experience on an episode of “Talk Is Jericho,” recalling how the news of her signing was revealed after her triumph over Leyla Grey.
The contract had been inked earlier that day, initially placing her on a per-appearance arrangement. However, it was in April 2022, when Christopher Daniels extended a contract offer, which would ultimately materialize in October.
“AEW was honestly just something that was so new and exciting,”
Nightingale reminisced, describing the palpable sense of anticipation within the wrestling community.
“There’s more possibility, there’s more doors to open through,”
She added, highlighting the sense of opportunity that permeated the indie wrestling scene.
For Nightingale, AEW’s distinctive and alternative ambiance provided a fertile ground for her unique style and personality to flourish.
This sentiment underscores her belief that AEW is not just a promotion but a supportive environment where individual quirks and idiosyncrasies are embraced and nurtured.
Nightingale’s recent triumph in capturing the AEW TBS Championship at Dynasty has solidified her standing, and she now gears up to defend her title against the newly signed Mercedes Mone at AEW Double or Nothing.
