AEW’s “Homecoming” special on Wednesday’s “AEW Dynamite” episode at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida featured a Casino Gauntlet match to determine AEW International Champion Roderick Strong’s challenger at Double or Nothing.
Will Ospreay, fresh off a victory over Bryan Danielson at AEW Dynasty, outlasted seven other competitors to secure the title shot.
In this unique match, elimination wasn’t necessary; only one participant needed to be pinned or submit for the victory to be determined.
Bullet Club Gold’s Jay White kicked off the match against Dante Martin. Penta entered next, followed by Kyle O’Reilly, who lost his previous opportunity at the International Championship when he faced his former ally at Dynasty.
Ospreay joined the fray as the next entrant, clearing the ring upon his arrival. White wasted no time going after Ospreay, engaging in a chop exchange.
Lance Archer entered next, grabbing two tables from beneath the ring during a picture-in-picture break.
Komander was the subsequent entrant, countering Archer’s powerbomb attempt on the apron and sending him crashing through the tables. Jay Lethal made his entrance following the dramatic moment.
During the match, Komander interrupted O’Reilly’s arm bar on Ospreay with a Shooting Star Press.
While attempting to pin O’Reilly, Komander fell victim to Ospreay’s Hidden Blade, leading to Ospreay securing the pinfall victory.
After the match, Strong and the Undisputed Kingdom, accompanied by the returning Adam Cole, confronted Ospreay in the ring, setting the stage for their clash at Double Or Nothing in Las Vegas on May 26.
