WWE star Wendy Choo is set to make her highly anticipated return to NXT television, appearing after an absence of 469 days. The popular wrestler will grace the NXT stage on June 11, 2024, following a mysterious vignette hinting at her comeback.
Wendy Choo’s last NXT appearance was on February 28, 2023, when she was attacked by an unknown assailant who was later revealed to be Blair Davenport. Despite the assault, Choo continued to wrestle on NXT Level Up and at house shows. However, an unreported injury eventually led to her sidelining.
Choo marked her return to action on April 30, 2024, in a match against Wren Sinclair on NXT Level Up. She also participated in a six-woman tag team match at an NXT Live Event in Lakeland, Florida.
The vignette featuring Choo displays a transformation of her character. The 32-year-old wrestler, known for her fuzzy slippers and onesie, is seen washing her face in the bathroom. This simple act triggers the emergence of a darker character, complete with dark eye makeup and a menacing stare that ultimately shatters the mirror. The teaser concludes with Wendy Choo’s return announcement for the following week’s NXT TV.
In an earlier interview on Dr. Beau Hightower’s YouTube channel, Wendy Choo addressed her on-screen persona, which caters to children rather than adults. Choo remains unbothered by critics, emphasizing that the most crucial aspect is the WWE Universe’s reaction.
“Everyone sees my character as, ‘Oh, she’s like a cute little girl. She can’t really do anything.’ And sometimes, that can be really cool and it happens quite often because the general population gets to comment on what we do. But what they don’t see is all the amount of work that we put into it and that it is a character and sometimes a character is a small or a large extension of ourselves. So being my fun character, I really do my best to try to cater to children and be fun and animated and something different and some people don’t like it and that’s okay because everyone has their own flavors,” Choo explained.
The vignette indicates a shift in Wendy Choo’s character, moving from a fun, child-oriented persona to a menacing and potentially frightening figure for young audiences, with her eerie makeup and unique hairdo. This change suggests a more mature and sinister evolution of Wendy Choo’s character in WWE NXT.
