CCXP MX is currently experiencing the full force of an epic storm as “Twisters” takes the event by storm. A massive display celebrating the return of “The Suck Zone” has electrified Mexico City, and thanks to Collider’s Editor-in-Chief Steve Weintraub, we’re here to share the excitement with you.
Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the upcoming feature stars Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Anthony Ramos as the new generation of storm chasers. Serving as a standalone sequel to the 1996 film “Twister,” Chung emphasized the importance of capturing the original’s adventurous spirit.
He remarked,
“To me, it felt like an adventure movie, and I always loved how that movie inspired a generation of meteorologists and people who were interested in science and weather just because it made that study feel like it was an adventure. That’s something that I wanted to retain with this one.”
The original “Twister,” penned by Michael Crichton and Anne-Marie Martin, followed a couple of meteorologists on the verge of divorce who find themselves chasing a once-in-a-generation storm. Starring Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt, the film was a financial triumph, grossing $500 million worldwide and gripping audiences with its groundbreaking visual effects.
The sequel, “Twisters,” boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Maura Tierney, Brandon Perea, Daryl McCormack, Kiernan Shipka, and more. Scheduled to hit theaters on July 19, the film promises to deliver high-octane thrills and jaw-dropping weather phenomena.
