ECW icon Tommy Dreamer anticipates a significant narrative shift in the AEW women’s division involving Mariah May and Toni Storm, predicting that their eventual separation will become a pivotal storyline.
While numerous narratives unfold in the AEW women’s division in 2024, the focal point of fan discussions centers on the intricate relationship between AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm and her protege-turned-obsessive admirer, Mariah May.
Since May’s arrival in late 2023, the two have been inseparable, with May even adopting aspects of Storm’s previous persona. However, speculation looms regarding an impending rift between them, although the timing remains uncertain.
“The biggest storyline is Mariah May when she eventually turns on Toni Storm,” Dreamer asserted on “Busted Open Radio.”
“Mariah May will be a massive star for AEW if you continue her trajectory, and what I’m saying is exactly what we were talking about with [Chris] Jericho and Hook.
You have these two people invested with each other over time, obviously, why does Mariah May need Toni Storm?
She doesn’t, but she hangs out with her because, at first, she was like a stalker somewhat, or an obsessed fan, so she will be a big star eventually when that turn happens … Once it does, it’s going to be big.”
Beyond the Storm-May saga, tensions escalate between Mercedes Mone and Willow Nightingale, while Serena Deeb plots her return to championship contention. Meanwhile, the camaraderie between Deonna Purrazzo and Thunder Rosa appears to be veering towards a potential feud.
