Jon Moxley recently added another accolade to his collection by defeating NJPW’s Tetsuya Naito to claim the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship for the first time.
This achievement has garnered praise from many, including Tommy Dreamer, who likened Moxley to an ECW legend on “Busted Open Radio.”
Dreamer commended Moxley’s recent segment on “AEW Dynamite,” drawing parallels between the “Purveyor of Violence” and The Sandman.
He described Moxley as a modern version of The Sandman, portraying him as someone who would engage in a bar fight, then calmly sit down for a drink afterward.
Reflecting on Moxley’s career journey from WWE to AEW, Dreamer highlighted Moxley’s impactful debut in AEW, where he immediately challenged then-World Champion Chris Jericho, leading to a compelling feud.
Dreamer also noted Moxley’s unique accomplishment of holding World Championships in WWE, AEW, and now NJPW, calling it a tremendous feat.
Despite praising Moxley, Dreamer expressed criticism towards the Blackpool Combat Club, suggesting that the group, which includes Moxley and Bryan Danielson, felt disjointed.
He argued that both Moxley and Danielson are stronger as singles competitors and questioned the necessity of their association with the group.
