Cara Pipia, a close friend of the late Ashley Massaro, recently disclosed that Stephanie McMahon was aware of the directive for Massaro to remain silent about the alleged sexual assault.
Ashley Massaro tragically took her own life on May 16, 2019, prompting renewed attention to the allegations she made against the company in late 2016. Massaro claimed she was sexually assaulted at a military base during WWE’s tour of Kuwait in 2006 and was instructed to keep the matter private.
In a conversation with News Nation’s Ashleigh Banfield, Cara Pipia shed light on Stephanie McMahon’s knowledge of the situation, asserting that McMahon was present during the board meeting where Massaro was instructed to stay silent.
Pipia recounted the events during the exchange with Banfield:
“She spoke with Vince McMahon many times. Vince had his daughter..,” Pipia began. “Stephanie McMahon?” Banfield inquired. “[Nods Pipia]…take his place because she was a female, a woman, and to make Ashley comfortable. And they just played with her. They played with her because everything that Stephanie had made her feel comfortable, safe about, soon as they walked into this board room meeting, Ashley was on her own completely. And she was threatened, and there was no… there was no compassion. There was no sympathy. There was nothing,” Pipia recounted.
Continuing the discussion:
“So, Ashley Massaro, your best friend, told you that she went into a boardroom…,” Banfield prompted. “Yeah, absolutely!” affirmed Pipia. Banfield clarified: “…with the WWE, where Stephanie McMahon, Vince McMahon…” Pipia confirmed: “That’s right.” ” And other executives were seated the entire time. And that’s where she was told this has to stay under wraps?” asked Banfield. “That is right,” Pipia affirmed.
Stephanie McMahon, once a prominent figure in WWE, has since departed from the company. McMahon’s tenure as an on-screen WWE character began during the Attitude Era in the late 90s, when she became one of the most successful stars, notably portraying a heel authority figure.
In early 2023, shortly after Vince McMahon’s WWE return, Stephanie announced her resignation from the company. While her presence has been sporadic since then, she was seen at ringside during last year’s Survivor Series: WarGames event.
