Sony Pictures has announced significant delays for two of its highly anticipated films. The release of “Kraven The Hunter” has been pushed to December 13th, 2024, from its earlier August 30th slot, marking another setback after previous delays due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes.
Kraven The Hunter: Plot and Cast
“Kraven The Hunter” revolves around Russian immigrant Sergei Kravinoff’s quest to prove himself as the world’s greatest hunter. The film features Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the titular role of Sergei Kravinoff / Kraven, alongside Arana DeBose as Calypso and Fred Heichinger as Dmitri Smerdyakov / Chameleon. Notable actors like Christopher Abbott, Alessandro Nivola, Russell Crowe, and Levi Miller are also part of the cast in undisclosed roles.
In an interview last year, Aaron Taylor-Johnson highlighted Kraven’s depth, portraying him as a flawed character striving to understand himself amidst the world of hunting.
Karate Kid: New Release Date and Details
Meanwhile, the new instalment of “Karate Kid,” which aims to revive the original franchise, has been rescheduled to May 30, 2025. This decision aligns the film’s release with the conclusion of its television spinoff, “Cobra Kai.”
The film boasts a star-studded ensemble including Ralph Macchio, Jackie Chan, Ben Wang, Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Wyatt Oleff, Aramis Knight, and Ming-Na Wen. Details about the plot and Macchio’s involvement remain scarce, with the actor stating it’s early days for the project.
MCU Connection and Sony’s Marvel Universe
Amid Sony’s collaboration with Marvel Studios on Spider-Man films, including the adjacent Venom series, fans speculate about “Kraven The Hunter’s” ties to the MCU. However, Sony has positioned its Spider-Man narratives as distinct within the superhero genre, teasing a broader universe with characters like Madame Web.
While “Kraven The Hunter” is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 13th, 2024, “Karate Kid” will hit screens on May 30, 2025, building anticipation for these exciting cinematic ventures.
