Rock legend Slash, renowned for his iconic top hat and blistering guitar solos with Guns N’ Roses, revealed a fresh single on Friday, a dynamic rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s early hit, “Oh Well.”
This revamped version features the soulful vocals of country sensation Chris Stapleton, adding a unique twist to the classic track. Stapleton, set to grace the stage of “Saturday Night Live” alongside host Ryan Gosling, lends his powerhouse voice to complement Slash’s electrifying guitar work.
The release of “Oh Well” marks the second single from Slash’s eagerly anticipated solo album, “Orgy of the Damned.” Known by his birth name Saul Hudson, the legendary guitarist has crafted five solo albums prior to this latest offering, with four showcasing his collaboration with Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators.
Originally penned in 1969 by Fleetwood Mac’s founding member Peter Green, “Oh Well” resonates with timeless appeal, harkening back to the band’s early days before the arrival of icons like Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.
Reflecting on Green’s musical prowess, Slash praises him as “one of the greatest singer-songwriter-guitar players,” placing him in esteemed company alongside Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck.
Recalling his first encounter with “Oh Well” during his teenage years, Slash reminisces about the enduring allure of its charming guitar riff, a sentiment shared by music enthusiasts worldwide.
Joining Stapleton on Slash’s upcoming album are an array of esteemed artists including AC/DC’s Brian Johnson, rock icon Iggy Pop, and the dynamic duo of Demi Lovato and Tash Neal.
“Orgy of the Damned,” slated for release on May 17 under Gibson Records, promises to be a riveting showcase of Slash’s unparalleled talent and enduring influence in the genre of rock music.
