Robert Downey Jr. has shown interest in returning as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, despite his character’s death at the conclusion of “Avengers: Endgame.”
Russo Brothers Sceptical About Iron Man’s Return
During an interview with GamesRadar at the Sands: International Film Festival, the film’s directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, expressed their doubts about bringing Tony Stark back to life.
“I don’t know how they would do it,” Anthony Russo told GamesRadar. “I don’t know what the road to that would be.”
“I mean, we closed that book, so it would be up to them to figure out how to reopen it,” Joe Russo added.
Marvel’s Firm Decision on Iron Man’s Fate
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also weighed in, dismissing the idea that Tony Stark’s death could be reversed. Speaking with Vanity Fair, Feige emphasized the finality of Stark’s storyline in “Endgame,” and the importance of respecting the narrative decisions made in the film.
“We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again,” Feige told Vanity Fair. “We all worked very hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.”
