Randy Orton, the WWE SmackDown star and 14-time world champion, saw his impressive 788-day unbeaten streak come to an end at a live event in Bologna, Italy last night.
The Apex Predator had been on a remarkable run since returning from injury at Survivor Series last year, dominating opponents and cementing his position as one of the top superstars in the WWE.
Orton’s undefeated streak was finally broken when he teamed up with LA Knight to take on Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga, making his in-ring debut, in a tag team match.
Despite putting up a valiant effort, Orton and Knight were unable to secure the win, marking Orton’s first defeat on the live circuit in over two years. His last loss at a house show match dates back to March 5, 2022.
The Bloodline, comprising Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga, continued their assault on LA Knight after the match, but Orton quickly recovered to lay out Tonga with a vicious RKO. Knight then took out Solo with a BFT to bring an end to the segment.
Orton’s feud with The Bloodline is far from over, as he is set to join forces with Kevin Owens to take on Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga at WWE Backlash.
The rivalry has been brewing for weeks, with Solo and Tonga targeting Owens and Orton intervening to save him on SmackDown.
The stage is now set for an explosive showdown at Backlash, where these four superstars will clash in what promises to be an unforgettable encounter.
Interestingly, Orton and Owens have a history of competing against each other, having faced off in a triple-threat match for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 40 alongside Logan Paul.
However, this time around, they will be standing together against their common foes.
With his unbeaten streak behind him, Randy Orton will be looking to bounce back stronger than ever at WWE Backlash.
Will he and Kevin Owens be able to overcome The Bloodline and emerge victorious? Only time will tell. One thing is certain – the road to Backlash just got a whole lot more interesting.
