Being a Fallout fan these days feels like hitting the jackpot, especially with all the exciting developments happening around the franchise.
From the highly acclaimed TV adaptation on Amazon Prime Video to the multitude of games available on Xbox Game Pass, there’s plenty to keep us entertained.
However, amidst all the excitement, there’s been a bit of a setback for players on the next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The highly anticipated Fallout: London mod for Fallout 4 faced a delay, leaving fans eagerly awaiting a new release date.
But fear not, because Bethesda has something else up its sleeve—a shiny new update for Fallout 4 on next-gen consoles.
Originally launched back in 2015 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows, Fallout 4 was met with critical acclaim and quickly became a fan favorite, selling a whopping 12 million copies within its first 24 hours.
In the game, players take on the role of the sole survivor of Vault 111, embarking on a quest to find their kidnapped son in the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Boston in the year 2287.
While news about the next-gen upgrade had been scarce since Bethesda’s initial announcement in 2022, the recent rollout of the Prime Video show seems to have spurred the developer into action. Bethesda has finally confirmed the release date for the free update, along with a slew of exciting details about what players can expect.
“We appreciate your patience as we fine-tune the Fallout 4 next-gen update,” said the official Fallout X (formerly Twitter) account. “We’re just as excited as you are! But we need a little more time to ensure a truly spectacular return to the Commonwealth in 2024.”
The long-awaited upgrade is set to drop on April 25th, a date that Bethesda confirmed during the Fallout TV show’s promotional campaign on April 11th. So mark your calendars and get ready to head back into the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout 4 with a fresh coat of next-gen polish.
