The latest beta update for the PlayStation 5 introduces a range of new features, with one notable addition being the ability to adjust the brightness of the console’s power indicator. While the default setting is ‘Bright’, participants in the beta can now opt for ‘Medium’ or ‘Dim’ illumination levels according to their preference.
In addition to this, the update brings enhancements to Share Screen interactions, introducing pointers and emoji reactions. When viewing Share Screen in fullscreen mode, participants can now use emojis to convey encouragement and celebrate moments with the host. Moreover, the inclusion of pointers allows viewers to highlight specific objects or areas, serving as a helpful guidance tool.
Not forgetting the DualSense controller, PlayStation has also updated its software to enhance sound features. This includes improvements to controller speakers, enabling higher-quality sound output and better noise cancellation.
Notably, the mic input quality has been enhanced through the implementation of a new AI machine-learning model. This results in improved voice chat experiences, with background noise from button presses and game audio effectively suppressed.
PlayStation encourages feedback from participants regarding the beta update as it prepares for a global release in the coming months. However, it acknowledges that some features mentioned may undergo significant changes or may not be included in the final version.
In other PlayStation 5 news, recent discussions have revealed that a remake of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was under consideration. This follows a trend of remakes and remasters of popular IPs on the platform, including titles like The Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2, as well as Demon’s Souls.
