Honkai Impact 3rd, once the flagship action RPG of Hoyoverse, is set to make a comeback of sorts with its Part 2 update, a substantial patch introducing an entirely new storyline. Scheduled for release on both PC and mobile this Thursday, February 29, the anticipation for this Hoyo game is palpable, especially with its debut on Steam, boasting a commendable 72% positive review rate.
Despite the overshadowing presence of Genshin Impact, a game that seemingly devoured all gaming finances, it remains a staple in my gaming rotation. While the Zenless Zone Zero beta failed to capture my interest, Hoyoverse’s recent release, Honkai Star Rail, proved to be thoroughly enjoyable.
Honkai Impact 3rd, although known to me only through its reputation, appears to offer an enticing entry point with its Part 2 update.
Without prior knowledge of the events of Honkai Impact 3rd Parts 1 and 1.5, I’m summarizing it as a whirlwind of events with some impressive impact frames.
Part 2 transports us to a bustling metropolis on Mars, where we’ll follow a fresh ensemble of characters led by Senadina, Helia, and Coralie. Of the trio, Coralie, with her distinctive panda-like appearance and disillusioned demeanor, immediately stands out as my favorite.
The previous protagonist, Kiana, appears to have taken a backseat, signaling a significant narrative shift that has left some long-time fans of Honkai Impact 3rd feeling apprehensive. However, lacking context, I’m eager to delve into the Martian landscape and uncover the mysteries it holds.
Part 2 not only introduces a new storyline but also breathes new life into the already dynamic combat system. Promising improved enemy AI and a focus on aerial combat, coupled with sleek attack animations for the new characters, the excitement for the revamped gameplay is palpable.
The cityscapes and art style showcased thus far, along with the consistently impressive soundtracks from Hoyoverse, further amplify the anticipation surrounding Part 2.
While the prospect of navigating through numerous in-game currencies is somewhat daunting, the allure of a free action RPG experience is irresistible. As such, Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2 is poised to receive, at the very least, a trial run from me.
