After months of teasing and mysterious hints, Longlegs has finally unveiled its complete synopsis, accompanied by an intriguing trailer.
Maika Monroe, renowned for her role in “It Follows,” steps into the shoes of Lee Harker, a talented new FBI agent tasked with solving an unresolved serial killer case.
As the investigation takes a darker turn with the discovery of occult evidence, Lee realizes a personal connection to the merciless killer, prompting her to act swiftly to prevent another family tragedy. Adding an extra layer of intensity, the role of the serial killer is portrayed by none other than Nicolas Cage.
The trailer offers two chilling glimpses of Cage’s character – once wearing a mask while brandishing an axe and another with shaggy hair and a ghostly white face.
The footage, accessible above, maintains a tense and unnerving atmosphere, successfully avoiding the clichéd jump-scares often found in typical horror trailers. As Lee delves deeper into the case, occult symbols, initially pinned to the wall of her office, begin to manifest on the screen and in each subsequent clip, leaving viewers questioning their own sanity.
The horror-thriller is under the direction of Oz Perkins, known for his work as the writer and director of “The Blackcoat’s Daughter” and “I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House.” The ensemble cast includes Alicia Witt, Blair Underwood, Lisa Chandler, Erin Boyes, Dakota Daulby, and Vanessa Walsh.
Longlegs is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 12. For those eager to explore more upcoming movies in 2024 and beyond or simply seek information on release dates, our comprehensive list has you covered.
