AEW recently grabbed headlines across the internet with its announcement to broadcast behind-the-scenes footage from All In, capturing the altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry.
However, the response to this move has been largely unfavorable. According to Nic Nemeth on “Busted Open Radio,” the promotion should have considered using fake footage to intrigue fans instead.
Some fans speculated that a swerve could have been a more effective strategy, as Nemeth suggested, to draw attention to the product. He envisioned The Young Bucks presenting humorous content or vintage footage like black and white ‘Three Stooges’ clips with their commentary.
Despite the backlash the stunt received, it undeniably sparked conversations about AEW, a point Nemeth commended the promotion for, especially considering it occurred right after WrestleMania 40.
“To get everyone talking in wrestling is kind of a big deal, let’s not overstep that, because it is. Whether it’s for one night and you get people coming back or not or you capitalize on it, that’s totally a different thing.”
Following Punk’s critical remarks about AEW, Adam Copeland delivered a passionate pro-AEW promo, a moment Nemeth also addressed.
Nemeth highlighted Copeland’s reminder of why fans should embrace the current wrestling world.
“Like Adam said, ‘You complain online? You’re still complaining because you want it to be better.'”
However, Nemeth still expressed disappointment with the outcome of the footage, and he had hoped it would lead to something more substantial.
