Have you caught wind of the buzz surrounding the Game Boy Advance, the latest sensation in handheld gaming?
It’s like having a Super Nintendo right in the palm of your hand. Pretty cool, huh? Smartphones? Nah, we’re talking about something way cooler here!
Now, if you’re a die-hard Game Boy Advance enthusiast, you might have felt a pang of sadness seeing the dwindling support for this iconic device and the lack of new game developments.
But hold on to your seats, because after a whopping 22 years since its inception, there’s a fresh game making its way to the GBA scene – introducing Kien!
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of publisher Incube8 Games and developer Age Of Games, this RPG platformer is not just hitting the digital shelves but also receiving a physical release on authentic GBA cartridges!
The storyline of Kien takes us to the once-thriving planet of Malkut, ruled by the revered Seven Masters of the Absolute.
However, when these Masters vanish, plunging 7000 years of peace into chaos, it falls upon the shoulders of two young apprentices – Kjan and Elendel – to combat the encroaching evil and unearth the mysteries of Kien, the key to restoring harmony.
While Kien may appear as a straightforward action RPG platformer, the journey of its creation is nothing short of an epic saga.
Crafted by a spirited team of Italian developers, who kicked off with a meager starting budget of just 500 euros, the game was brought to life against all odds.
However, challenges loomed large, including exorbitant cartridge costs and a shrinking market for the Game Boy Advance, thwarting the game’s publication.
But lo and behold, two decades later, Kien is finally stepping into the limelight with a full-fledged physical release, catering to both avid players and avid collectors alike.
You can now snag your very own copy of Kien in physical format from publisher Incube8, bundled with not just the game but also a protective cartridge cover, a set of stickers, a manual, all neatly packaged in a charming box.
While details on a digital release are still under wraps, here’s hoping that Kien’s brilliance won’t be confined solely to GBA enthusiasts and will soon captivate a broader audience.
