A fresh report from The Streamr indicates that NetEase may be in the works on a third-person hero shooter set in the Marvel universe, reminiscent of the 6v6 gameplay style found in Overwatch.
Forbes’ Paul Tassi seemed to lend credibility to this title, stating, “I am convinced the game is likely real.” This sentiment was echoed by well-known leakers Kurakasis and Miller on Twitter.
NetEase’s prior involvement with Marvel Super War, a free-to-play 3D MOBA, and Marvel Duel, a mobile CCG, suggests a familiarity with the Marvel franchise. However, the company has not made any official statements regarding these rumors.
According to The Streamr’s latest report, James Arnold Taylor is rumored to voice Magneto in the upcoming Marvel game.
Taylor, recognized by Star Wars fans for his portrayal of Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Clone Wars, would bring considerable talent to the project. This aligns with rumors suggesting a significantly larger budget for NetEase’s untitled Marvel project.
The report also mentions that “environmental destruction is a big part” of the game’s design.
Additionally, Kurakasis hinted at an impending announcement in a recent Twitter post, speculating that NetEase Connect 2024 could serve as a suitable platform for this project. As such, fans may anticipate official news possibly in May.
