For those whose passions lie at the intersection of Mass Effect and Destiny 2, an exciting collaboration is on the horizon. Bungie has recently announced a partnership with EA and BioWare to introduce Commander Shepard and the iconic crew of the Normandy, or at least a representation inspired by them, into the realm of Destiny 2.
This collaboration event promises to be a thrilling crossover for fans of both franchises, and it is set to commence on the 13th of February.
According to Bungie’s official statement, the ‘Destiny 2 x BioWare collaboration will allow players to immerse themselves in the world of Mass Effect within Destiny 2, offering an opportunity to “join the crew of the Normandy.” However, the excitement is somewhat tempered as the announcement concludes with the revelation that the experience will be enhanced with “new cosmetics and in-game items.”
On the premium cosmetic front, the Eververse store will feature the Normandy Crew Bundle during the event. This bundle includes a Titan N7 armor set inspired by Commander Shepard, a Hunter Vakarian set inspired by Garrus, and a Warlock Shadow Broker set inspired by Liara.
Players can purchase the Omni Strike finisher and Flux Dance with Silver, adding further customization options to their characters.
In addition to the premium offerings, all players can access the free Alliance Requisitions Bundle throughout the event. This bundle includes the Enhanced Defense Ghost Shell, Alliance Scout Frigate ship, and Alliance Drop Ship Sparrow.
While the Mass Effect crossover generates considerable anticipation, Destiny 2 players can also engage in the ongoing Riven’s Wishes event.
Running until the 12th of March, this event introduces weekly pursuits allowing players to earn tokens for Last Wish raid Deepsight weapons, Exotic gear from the Lightfall year, event mementos, and Ascendant crafting materials. Simultaneously, the Moments of Triumph event, serving as a prelude to The Final Shape, unfolds from today until the 3rd of June, as outlined in Bungie’s comprehensive post.
Originally slated for release next month, Destiny 2’s highly anticipated The Final Shape expansion faced a delay until the 4th of June 2024. Bungie justified the delay by expressing a commitment to ensuring the expansion becomes precisely what they envision. This decision followed studio layoffs in October, impacting approximately 100 employees, underscoring the challenges faced during the development process.
