Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 enthusiasts can mark their calendars for a significant update arriving on the 7th of March: the highly anticipated New Game Plus mode. This imminent addition allows players to revisit the adventure of Peter and Miles, swinging through the city once more.
Accompanying this exciting mode are new suits for both Spider-Men and promises of “more” content upon the update’s deployment.
The Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 development team has assured fans that a comprehensive rundown of forthcoming features will be shared closer to the update’s launch date, ensuring everyone stays informed.
Prior to the game’s launch in October, Insomniac had hinted at the introduction of a New Game Plus mode. Despite initial hopes for its release by the end of the year, the studio announced in December that further testing was necessary to meet their quality standards. Consequently, the release was postponed to an unspecified time early in the following year.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has proven to be a commercial success for both Sony and Insomniac. Sales figures exceeded 5 million copies within the first three weeks of its release, with half of those sales occurring within the initial 24 hours. This achievement solidified Peter and Miles’ latest escapade as the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game to date.
In Eurogamer’s review of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the game was described as possessing “immense charm and fluid, free-form style” despite being critiqued as “a little simple and a little over-stuffed.” The overall assessment awarded the game four out of five stars, acknowledging its strengths within the gaming landscape.
