With AEW Dynasty scheduled for April 21 at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri, the company has only one more episode of “AEW Dynamite” before the highly anticipated pay-per-view.
This upcoming episode has gained significant attention as Jon Moxley is slated to make his first appearance since capturing the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
Moxley secured the title by defeating Tetsuya Naito at NJPW Windy City Riot. Although the match had been scheduled for several months, it was hyped to be a championship bout after Naito successfully defended the title against Yota Tsuji at the Sakura Genesis event.
Highlights of Moxley’s championship victory were featured on the April 13 edition of “AEW Collision.”
This appearance also marks Moxley’s return to AEW since the Revolution pay-per-view on March 3, where the former AEW World Champion took a hiatus from the company to prepare for his commitments in NJPW and CMLL.
With episodes of “Dynamite,” “AEW Rampage,” and “Collision” still scheduled before Dynasty on April 21, there’s potential for additional matches to be added to the card, including Moxley’s involvement.
However, as the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Moxley will likely have obligations to appear on some NJPW shows leading up to their next major event, Wrestling Dontaku, scheduled for May 3 and 4, with the Road to Wrestling Dontaku tour commencing on April 20 in Machida.
At the time of writing, no match cards for the upcoming New Japan events have been announced.
