Blizzard Entertainment has named Johanna Faries as its newly appointed president, succeeding Mike Ybarra, who vacated the position last week. Faries is set to assume her new role on February 5.
Faries initially joined Activision Blizzard in 2018, taking on the role of commissioner for Call of Duty esports. Prior to her current position, she served as the general manager of Call of Duty.
Her extensive professional background also encompasses an eleven-year tenure at the NFL, where she held the position of vice president of club business development.
In an announcement to the company’s employees, Faries expressed her honor at joining the team in her new capacity, acknowledging the rich legacy that Blizzard has maintained and delivered to the world for over three decades.
Despite the mixed emotions stemming from the recent departure of talented colleagues, she conveyed her immense excitement about contributing to Blizzard’s next chapter.
Faries emphasized her commitment to supporting Blizzard’s growth and success, expressing a genuine dedication to the well-being of the team and the unique, special games they create. She stated, “I am committed to doing everything I can to help Blizzard thrive, with care and consideration for you and for our games, each unique and special in their own right.”
