Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal recently shed light on the origins of 3MB, revealing that a member of The Shield was once considered for the group.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Mahal disclosed that Dean Ambrose, now Jon Moxley in AEW, was among the names considered for the stable before The Shield’s debut.
According to Mahal, before he, Heath Slater, and Drew McIntyre formed 3MB, there were discussions about potential members, including Ambrose. Mahal reminisced about the time, stating,
“Some names were being thrown around… at that time, Dean Ambrose was doing some dark matches.”
Fortunately for Ambrose, he became part of The Shield a month after 3MB formed.
While 3MB didn’t achieve significant success, Mahal and McIntyre later made comebacks, both capturing the WWE Championship. Meanwhile, Slater eventually departed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In recent WWE releases, Mahal was among those let go, marking his second departure from the company.
Originally signed in 2010, he debuted on the main roster in 2011. After his initial release in 2014, Mahal spent time on the independent circuit before returning to WWE in 2017.
During his second stint, Mahal showcased a transformed physique, earning title reigns and acclaim. His departure from WWE marks a significant chapter in his wrestling journey, with fans eagerly awaiting his next moves beyond the company.
