The world of professional wrestling was abuzz recently when Jim Cornette, a veteran wrestling personality, urged WWE Hall of Famer Sting to come out of retirement.
The Icon, as Sting is fondly known, had announced his retirement earlier this year after a remarkable career spanning decades. However, Cornette’s call has sparked a wave of excitement among fans, who are eager to see Sting back in action.
Sting’s last match took place at AEW Revolution in March, where he teamed up with Darby Allin to defeat The Young Bucks and retain the AEW Tag Team Championship.
After the match, Sting relinquished the title, marking the end of an era in professional wrestling. However, it seems that Cornette is not ready to let The Icon hang up his boots just yet.
During a recent episode of The Jim Cornette Experience, Cornette discussed Darby Allin’s injury with Brian Last.
Allin, who was Sting’s partner in his final match, has been absent from the ring due to a broken foot and a subsequent accident that left him with a broken nose. Cornette jokingly suggested that Allin’s injuries were a ploy to get Sting out of retirement, saying,
“He’s got to come back and get even… Sting vs. MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority).”
While Cornette’s comment was made in jest, it has sparked a renewed interest in seeing Sting back in the ring. Fans have taken to social media to express their support for The Icon’s potential return, with many calling for him to come out of retirement and take on new challenges.
Interestingly, legendary ring announcer David Penzer had also expressed his desire to be a part of Sting’s retirement match in AEW. Penzer, who is best known for his work in WCW and TNA, had reached out to Tony Schiavone to discuss the possibility of announcing Sting’s final match.
Although it didn’t materialize due to the tag team nature of the match, it highlights the level of respect and admiration that Sting commands within the wrestling community.
As the speculation surrounding Sting’s potential return continues to build, one thing is certain – the wrestling world would be thrilled to see The Icon back in action.
With his legacy and reputation as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, Sting’s return would be a monumental occasion that would charming audiences worldwide. Whether or not he
