In a lighthearted yet fiery exchange, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Jade Cargill jokingly vowed to unleash a scathing promo on Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. The reason behind her ire? Cody’s recent revival of an iconic line from their shared All Elite Wrestling (AEW) past.
During a recent appearance on the Ringside Podcast, Cargill playfully threatened to take down Cody with a verbal onslaught after he borrowed Brandi Rhodes’ infamous “it’s open mic night” line on Friday Night SmackDown in April 2024. The line, originally used by Brandi Rhodes to take down Jade Cargill during their feud in AEW, seemed to strike a nerve with the WWE star.
Cargill’s comments come as no surprise, given her history with Cody and Brandi Rhodes in AEW. The trio was embroiled in a heated rivalry, which culminated in a mixed tag-team match featuring Cody, Brandi, Jade Cargill, and Shaquille O’Neal. It was during this period that Brandi dropped the now-iconic line, which has since become a bone of contention between the two wrestling personalities.
Cody’s unexpected revival of the line on SmackDown seemed to touch a raw nerve with Cargill, prompting her to jokingly threaten a promo-laden retaliation. While the exchange was laced with humor, it’s clear that the bad blood between these two wrestling stars is still very much alive.
As Cody Rhodes continues to reign supreme as the Undisputed WWE Champion, it remains to be seen whether Jade Cargill will make good on her threat. One thing is certain, however – the wrestling world will be watching with bated breath as these two superstars continue to trade verbal jabs in the days to come.
