Hybe Interactive Media, a division of the South Korean entertainment conglomerate Hybe, has secured $80 million in funding to enhance its game publishing efforts. This investment round was spearheaded by Makers Fund, with IMM Investment and Hybe itself also contributing. The funds are intended to bolster the company’s capabilities in both game publishing and development.
Hybe, known for its global music sensation BTS, established Hybe IM in 2021 to expand into the video game industry. The company has already made strides with the release of mobile games such as the rhythm action game Rhythm Hive and the match-three puzzle game BTS Island: In the SEOM. Upcoming titles include the fantasy character collection game Oz Re:write and the RPG Astra: Knights of Veda.
The investment follows Hybe IM’s previous engagements, including investments in Korean game developers Aqua Tree and Action Square. These strategic moves highlight Hybe IM’s commitment to establishing a strong foothold in the global gaming market.
Hybe IM President Wooyong Chung emphasized that this significant funding represents a crucial milestone for the company. With support from Makers Fund, IMM Investment, and Hybe, Hybe IM aims to enhance its global competitiveness and drive sustainable growth and innovation in the gaming industry.
