Brock Lesnar’s career is synonymous with dominance, earning him the moniker, The Beast Incarnate. Inside the ring, he was an unstoppable force, seldom tasting defeat and ensuring his opponents fought tooth and nail for victory.
However, this intensity sometimes resulted in injuries to his adversaries, as one 11-time WWE champion recently disclosed about his own harrowing experience against The Beast.
That champion is none other than Kurt Angle, whose storied career intersected with Lesnar’s at WrestleMania XIX. In a showdown for the WWE Championship, Lesnar’s infamous F-5 sealed Angle’s defeat, ending his title reign.
Yet, according to Angle, this outcome wasn’t part of the plan. Revealing the truth on The Joe Rogan Experience, Angle disclosed that Lesnar unintentionally broke his neck during the match:
“I was on his back, I had him in a choke hold. I was on his back and he was on the other side of the ring. He’s really strong, and he can run really fast. So, I’m on his back and he starts running to the other side of the ring and he goes to turn, so I hit the turnbuckle. Well, we only turned sideways and my head whiplashed really fast and it snapped,” reminisced Angle.
Unfortunately, this misfortune repeated six months later when Lesnar inadvertently broke Angle’s neck again during another match:
“But what’s crazy is, I broke my neck again. Brock broke my neck again, six months later. He hit me over the head with a chair like this! Straight over top. You’re supposed to bring it sideways so you don’t have the pressure of your neck, your head going down your neck. So he hit me straight over and broke my neck again,” Angle recounted.
Despite the challenges, Angle’s career persevered, earning him a well-deserved place in the Hall of Fame. As for Lesnar, recent speculation surrounding his WrestleMania 40 plans, particularly his rumored match against Gunther, has stirred excitement among fans.
However, amidst allegations involving Lesnar and former WWE chairman Vince McMahon, these plans are now in limbo, potentially leading to a different path for The Beast Incarnate at WrestleMania.
While the prospect of Lesnar versus Gunther would undoubtedly have been captivating, it seems fans will have to wait a bit longer before such matchups are revisited.
