GOG, the gaming platform under CD Projekt’s ownership, is venturing into cloud gaming through a partnership with Amazon Luna. With Luna’s cloud-based service, gamers can access select titles they’ve purchased from GOG across a range of compatible devices, including PCs, Macs, Android and iOS mobile devices, smart TVs, and Fire tablets. Simply install the Luna app on your device and ensure an internet connection. Moreover, gamers can utilize Luna-compatible devices and controllers like Xbox One’s and PS4’s to enjoy their games.
According to GOG’s announcement, players can access any of their owned games on the platform, provided they are also available on Luna. Notable titles like the Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077 have been confirmed by the CD Projekt subsidiary.
However, gamers can verify the accessibility of their other titles if they already use Amazon’s cloud streaming service. A Luna spokesperson mentioned that while GOG’s entire library will not be immediately accessible on Luna, the selection will gradually expand in the coming months.
It’s worth noting that if a game is available on both Luna and GOG, players can purchase it directly from Luna without needing to visit GOG separately. Any game purchased from Luna will also be added to the player’s GOG library. Furthermore, downloads will remain DRM-free, even if purchased from Luna, and gamers can enjoy GOG Galaxy features such as cloud saves and achievements.
Although the collaboration is not yet live, the companies have not disclosed a specific launch date apart from stating that it’s coming “soon.” However, access to the service will be initially limited to regions where Luna operates, including the USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.
