Former WWE head writer Vince Russo shared his thoughts on The Rock’s appearance on RAW, describing it as somewhat awkward.
The electrifying segment unfolded as The Final Boss made a surprise entrance to interrupt Cody Rhodes’ celebratory moment.
Face-to-face with the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, tensions ran high as they exchanged words that left an impact.
Reflecting on the encounter, Russo expressed his discomfort with the exchange, particularly highlighting The Rock’s announcement of his departure.
He speculated that this declaration might lead casual fans, drawn in by The Rock’s presence, to disengage from the show. Russo’s analysis was clear:
“The first segment bro, 45 minutes, and like I said, it’s Rock’s swansong. Rock says, ‘I’m going away now. So everybody that tuned in to watch me the last month or so, you can turn off your television sets.’ And I think that’s exactly what’s gonna happen based on the show tonight. I really, really do. We will see by the numbers.”
Moreover, Russo found a particular exchange between the two stars perplexing. He remarked,
“‘Give me your belt and I’ll give you my belt.’ That was extremely awkward, I don’t know what the point of that was.”
Despite Russo’s critique, The Rock left an intriguing message for Cody, suggesting that while his saga with Roman Reigns might have concluded, theirs was just beginning.
This hint of ongoing narrative potential added another layer of anticipation to the unfolding drama within the WWE universe.
