Jim Cornette, a former WWE manager, recently shared his thoughts on Damian Priest’s championship reign, emphasizing the need for a serious portrayal of the new titleholder.
Priest, known as The Archer of Infamy, made headlines by cashing in his Money in the Bank contract at WrestleMania XL, swiftly defeating Drew McIntyre to claim the World Heavyweight Championship.
Cornette, speaking on his show, expressed pleasant surprise at Priest’s victory but advocated for a more serious approach to his character, suggesting he distance himself from the comedic segments associated with The Judgment Day faction.
“We got a new World Champion, Damian Priest… He needs to get a big head and leave the clubhouse for The Judgment Day and have his own private locker room. They gotta knock, except for Rhea. She can come in anytime,”
Cornette remarked.
In response to any concerns within The Judgment Day faction, Priest addressed the issue in an exclusive interview, attributing any discrepancies to communication errors.
He stressed the importance of understanding that disagreements were normal within a group but affirmed that they were working to resolve any issues promptly.
“It actually comes from a lack of communication. Look, families fight all the time. Doesn’t change who they are, doesn’t change how they feel about each other and that’s where we’re at. We all love each other, we’re good. There’s no issues that’s gonna last forever. It’s just a matter of us fixing our communication so we all get on the same page,”
Priest assured.
Priest’s next challenge as champion will be against “Main Event” Jey Uso, who secured the opportunity by winning a Fatal Four-Way Match on WWE RAW.
As Priest prepares for this title defense, fans eagerly anticipate how he will continue to assert himself as a formidable champion in the WWE.
