As WrestleMania approaches, Seth Rollins remains a pivotal figure in WWE’s landscape. Reflecting on their past rivalry, Matt Riddle shared insights into his dynamic with The Visionary both in and out of the ring.
The feud between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle is etched in WWE history, notably for its intense personal undertones, such as Rollins addressing Riddle’s personal life on television.
Despite the apparent animosity, which was fueled by Riddle’s previous remarks about Becky Lynch, Riddle acknowledged Rollins’ professionalism behind the scenes.
In an interview on the MMA Hour podcast, Riddle expressed that while he and Rollins might not see eye to eye on a personal level, they maintained a respectful working relationship within the WWE environment.
“The thing about me and Seth, I don’t think we would be friends… But at the same time, when it comes to the locker room or sharing a bus or plane or whatever, we got along very well,” Riddle shared.
Both Riddle and Rollins were lauded for their ability to craft compelling matches, with their collaborative efforts resulting in memorable showdowns like the Fight Pit encounter at Extreme Rules.
Riddle praised Rollins’ talent in match planning, emphasizing their synergy in delivering captivating performances.
Recalling a pivotal moment in their feud, Riddle discussed the unique backstage interview styled after UFC’s promotion tactics, featuring a split-screen interaction between himself and Rollins.
Drawing inspiration from UFC’s Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones, Riddle found the concept fitting for the pro wrestling narrative.
“It sure was. We took it right out of the playbook… This is perfect,”
Riddle remarked, reflecting on the innovative approach.
Despite his departure from WWE in 2023, Riddle has continued his wrestling journey, securing victories and championships in NJPW.
As he navigates the wrestling landscape in 2024, the King of Bros aims to reclaim his former glory, with potential aspirations for a return to WWE in the future.
