In her forthcoming memoir, “Our Fight: A Memoir,” Ronda Rousey sheds light on her final WWE match, revealing it as a defiant message to both fans and the company.
Throughout her WWE journey, Rousey experienced a rollercoaster of highs and lows, from her sensational debut to her departure from the company.
However, her swan song came in the form of a showdown with her close friend Shayna Baszler at WWE SummerSlam last year, in an MMA Rules Match.
While the match received mixed reviews from fans worldwide due to its unconventional format and pacing, Rousey reflects on it with pride in her memoir. Despite the audience’s tepid response, she believes they successfully conveyed realism in the ring.
However, she acknowledges feeling a sense of defiance towards the fans and the company due to their perceived lack of appreciation.
“For the very last time, I loved every second of it. Somewhere in the crowd, I heard the rumblings of ‘This is boring.’ But the fans weren’t able to sync up from around the stadium and the chant died. I didn’t even care. I expected the fans weren’t going to understand. They weren’t going to appreciate it. If anything, making them sit through it was my last ‘f**k you’ to them and the company. But it was the match that we wanted it to be. It was a match that I was proud of. That’s all that mattered.”
Recent reports suggest backstage reactions to Rousey’s comments aren’t surprising, given her apparent discontent during her final stint with WWE.
Her forthcoming memoir promises to offer a candid insight into her thoughts and experiences during her time in the wrestling world.
With “Our Fight: A Memoir” set for release on April 4th, pre-orders are now available, offering fans a deeper understanding of Ronda Rousey’s journey and the untold stories behind her WWE career.
