WWE’s global presence is expanding with planned PLEs outside the US, and recent reports suggest a familiar face might rejoin the roster. Former SmackDown Tag Team Champion Erick Rowan is reportedly poised for a return to the Stamford-based promotion.
After his release due to budget cuts a few years ago, Rowan made a brief appearance on Friday Night SmackDown in August 2023. Despite not securing a full-time deal then, recent developments hint at his imminent comeback, with contractual obligations cited for his canceled dates.
While WWE hasn’t confirmed Rowan’s return, speculation mounts, especially as he’s halted other commitments. If he does re-enter the fold, there’s buzz about a potential reunion with Bo Dallas as Uncle Howdy. Rowan’s next move in his career remains to be seen.
Erick Rowan’s Desire to Clash with Gunther
Gunther’s ascension in WWE since his 2022 main roster debut has been notable. However, after a lengthy streak without defeat, Sami Zayn ended his dominance at WrestleMania XL. Presently off weekly TV following an Intercontinental Championship loss, Gunther remains a target for many.
Among those keen for a showdown is Erick Rowan. Earlier this year on X, Rowan publicly expressed his eagerness to face Gunther after the latter’s victory over Jey Uso on RAW.
“I’ll say it again I want to fight @Gunther_AUT.”
Rowan’s last WWE appearance was in 2020, post-WrestleMania 36 release. As rumors swirl about his potential return, fans eagerly await whether he’ll rejoin WWE’s ranks as a full-time performer in the months ahead.
