The eagerly awaited F1 24, the newest addition to EA’s annual racing series, is set to launch across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC (accessible via Steam, Epic, and the EA App) on May 31st.
In its announcement of the release date, EA tantalizingly hints at significant upgrades in F1 24, promising an “overhauled” Career mode, a fresh Dynamic Handling System, and more, while keeping specific details under wraps for a full reveal “in the coming months.” However, for enthusiasts eager to secure their copy ahead of time, the publisher has unveiled a slew of pre-order bonuses for F1 24.
Pre-orders for two versions of F1 24 are now open: the Standard Edition, which comes bundled with 5,000 Pitcoin and an F1 World Starter Pack, and the F1 24 Champions Edition, boasting two new Formula 1 Icons, 18,000 Pitcoin, the F1 World Bumper Pack, a bonus VIP Podium Pass, and up to three days of early access commencing from May 28th.
Players who pre-order either edition of F1 24 will enjoy immediate access to exclusive Time Trial challenges featuring a selection of 2024 team cars, along with receiving the McLaren and Alpine 2023 F1 esports liveries, which carry over to this year’s game. Moreover, existing F1 2021, F1 22, or F1 23 players opting for the Champions Edition will be entitled to a 15 percent discount for a limited period.
Continuing its tradition, F1 24 is being developed by Codemasters, the esteemed UK racing game studio renowned for titles such as Grid and Dirt, which EA acquired in 2021 for a staggering $1.2 billion USD.
In December, EA confirmed a round of layoffs at Codemasters, citing “small-scale organizational changes” amid a broader trend of job cuts plaguing the gaming industry. This year alone, over 7,000 layoffs, including significant losses at Xbox and PlayStation, have been announced, underscoring the industry’s volatile landscape.
