Diablo 4 Season 5 has launched, bringing with it a deluge of Infernal Hordes for players to conquer and loot. This season has unintentionally allowed players to benefit from tempering recipes from the previous season. In Diablo 4, tempering is a system that enables players to learn and apply specific affixes to their gear, usually requiring the collection of new manuals each season.
Adam Fletcher, Diablo’s community development director, confirmed via Twitter that the current issue, where new seasonal characters are inheriting tempering recipes from the previous season, was not intended. This overlap was not part of the original design, but for this season, it will be permitted. Fletcher clarified that this allowance is a one-time exception and not something players should expect in future seasons.
Despite this unplanned benefit, Fletcher assured that Season 5 still includes new tempering recipes for all character classes. This means there are fresh opportunities for players to discover and utilize new affix combinations, even with the unintended carryover from the previous season.
This situation is reminiscent of the “Bank Error In Your Favor” card from Monopoly, which is often seen as a fortunate mistake.
While this tempering bonus might be a temporary anomaly, the trend of turning successful experiments into permanent features in Diablo 4 suggests that players might remain hopeful for similar benefits in the future. For now, players should enjoy this unexpected advantage and make the most of their tempering boost in Season 5.
