If you were eagerly anticipating the release of Citizen Sleeper 2 before the end of 2024, there’s a bit of disappointing news. Developer Jump Over The Age, led by Gareth Damian Martin, has confirmed that there’s still “around a year left of development” for the highly anticipated narrative sci-fi RPG sequel.
Jump Over The Age had initially announced their work on the sequel, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, back in June of the previous year.
This sequel features a new Sleeper android protagonist navigating a fresh setting, requiring players to forge a life among the stars. Players will pilot their own makeshift stolen ship, complete with a crew they’ve personally recruited.
In an August update, fans were treated to a first look at a new location within Citizen Sleeper 2 – the lively way station known as Hexport.
It was also confirmed that the game would be released for PC via Game Pass and Steam. However, an exact release date remained elusive. The latest update from Jump Over The Age, as shared on Substack and reported by RPS, provides some insight.
Martin offered a progress report on all things Citizen Sleeper, including a new language update for the original game and a brief mention of its tabletop spin-off, Cycles of the Eye. Addressing the sequel, Martin stated, “I know you’ve all been waiting for more info on the sequel, and while I can’t give you that today, I can promise that by the end of this year, you will be very familiar with what the sequel plans to offer.”
The developer emphasized that there is still “around a year left of development” on Citizen Sleeper 2. They pointed out that the sequel is already “looking bigger and more varied” than its predecessor, expressing pride in the team’s achievements. Martin concluded by asking for patience and promised a big reveal along with a few small teases before the anticipated launch.
