Pocketpair, the developer behind Palworld, has released a new Steam demo for its upcoming Metroidvania game, Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse.
Although the game is facing allegations of plagiarism due to its similarities with another popular Metroidvania title, it is yet to receive a confirmed release date. However, the anticipated launch is expected within the next three months, featuring a four-player multiplayer option.
A noteworthy development is that Pocketpair is no longer listed as the developer of Never Grave. This change occurred three days ago, as revealed by a check on SteamDB on January 25, 2024. The current developer is now Frontside 180, a relatively unknown studio with a limited online presence.
Never Grave is described as a “Metroidvania x Roguelite” where players embark on a journey aided by a cursed hat. The game encourages players to utilize various magical abilities or possess enemies to navigate through different levels.
Players can collect loot, construct new facilities in their village, earn a living, and enhance their strength for upcoming battles. The game distinguishes itself from typical platformers by incorporating an enemy possession system, base building, and multiplayer features.
Meanwhile, Palworld, Pocketpair’s previous title, continues to attract attention. Recently, The Pokémon Company issued a statement announcing an ongoing investigation into whether Palworld has infringed upon its intellectual property rights. Despite these concerns, the player’s enthusiasm for Palworld remains high.
Steam concurrent numbers surpassed two million, marking a significant milestone for the game. Palworld is now the second game on Steam, after PUBG, to achieve this feat. Moreover, the game recently set a new record with 2,101,867 concurrent players, reinforcing its popularity among the gaming community.
