AEW fans, rejoice! The wait for Darby Allin’s return to the ring might not be as long as initially thought. The 31-year-old star, currently sidelined with a broken foot, provided an update on his recovery and hinted at a potential comeback at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 3 on June 30 in Long Island.
In a recent interview on 99.9 KISW in Seattle, Allin revealed that he suffered the injury during his loss to Jay White last month.
The two-time TNT Champion recalled how it was “so hard” to continue the match, feeling “miserable” in the ring. To make matters worse, Allin underwent surgery and had three metal plates put on his foot.
However, it seems that Allin’s determination and resilience are pushing him towards a speedy recovery. Despite being hit by a bus while crossing the street recently, which left him with a broken nose, Allin remains optimistic about his return to the ring.
When asked if he would attend Dynamite in Everett, Washington on May 15, near his hometown of Seattle, Allin jokingly said,
“I’ll see… I think I might be able to make it. As long as there’s no buses, I’m good.”
Although Allin implied that he will miss the Double or Nothing pay-per-view on May 26 in Las Vegas, his update suggests that he could be medically cleared in June.
This raises hopes for a potential appearance at Forbidden Door 3, where he could face off against top talent from both AEW and NJPW.
Meanwhile, AEW is gearing up for its biggest pay-per-view of the year, Double or Nothing.
The event will feature a stacked card, with two matches already confirmed: Will Ospreay vs. AEW International Champion Roderick Strong and Mercedes Moné vs. AEW TBS Champion Willow Nightingale.
Toni Storm is rumored to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Serena Deeb, and AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland will find out his opponent on this week’s Dynamite.
As the road to Double or Nothing heats up, fans can’t help but wonder if Darby Allin will make a miraculous return to the ring sooner rather than later. One thing is certain – when Allin does come back, it will be with a vengeance, and AEW fans will
