The timing of these events is notably ironic. Warframe’s creative director, Rebecca Ford, commented on X about the situation, noting that the IT team’s efforts to protect the TennoCon demo PCs from the global blue screen chaos the day before their Y2K-themed demo felt almost too thematically appropriate.
The Y2K bug, which caused widespread concern at the turn of the millennium, had generated fears of catastrophic failures, though the new year arrived without incident.
The current CrowdStrike bug echoes the same kind of chaos that was anticipated 24 years ago, albeit in a more modern context.
