Before WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes engaged in a heated rivalry with The Rock, culminating in a non-PG promo that left him feeling a bit remorseful.
Despite his reservations, Rhodes emerged victorious at WrestleMania 40, defeating Roman Reigns to claim the Undisputed WWE Championship despite interference from The Bloodline.
In a conversation on the SI Media podcast, Rhodes opened up about his feelings of guilt regarding his provocative promo.
“While the fans in the arena loved it, I couldn’t shake the feeling of guilt. I have a lot of young fans, and I wouldn’t want to lead them astray with inappropriate language,”
Rhodes shared.
Acknowledging his commitment to a family-friendly image throughout his WWE tenure, Rhodes expressed concern that his promo might have alienated some of his younger fans.
Despite these concerns, Rhodes is gearing up for his first title defense at Backlash 2024 in France.
He will face either AJ Styles or LA Knight, who will battle it out in a rematch from WrestleMania 40 on the upcoming episode of SmackDown.
Since capturing the championship, Rhodes has been making appearances on RAW and SmackDown, addressing the WWE Universe.
Additionally, he faced a confrontation from The Rock on the RAW following WrestleMania 40, setting the stage for what promises to be an intense title reign.
