Belal Muhammad, currently inactive for almost a year since his last fight at UFC 288 in May, where he secured a victory over Gilbert Burns, is growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of action and opportunities.
Despite being on a formidable 9-0 (1) streak in his last ten bouts, his quest for a title shot seems to be falling on deaf ears.
In a recent interview with Mike Owens of Middle East, Muhammad didn’t hold back his disdain for Leon Edwards, the man he fought to a no contest at UFC Fight Night 187.
Belal Muhammad vents frustration at Leon Edwards
Muhammad expressed a deep-seated animosity towards Edwards, fueled by what he perceives as dismissive remarks regarding his achievements and worthiness for a title shot. Muhammad’s frustration seems to stem from a perceived lack of recognition for his talents and accomplishments in the welterweight division.
Moreover, Muhammad took aim at Dana White’s recent comments regarding three opponents purportedly turning down a fight against Edwards at UFC 300.
Muhammad dismissed White’s assertions as attempts to hype up Edwards, whom he considers lacking in both fighting skills and promotional acumen. Muhammad’s strong words reflect his determination to prove his worth and settle the score with Edwards inside the octagon.
While rumors swirl about Edwards potentially returning at UFC 304, Muhammad’s name was notably absent among the three opponents White claimed were offered the opportunity to face Edwards.
Belal Muhammad GOES OFF on Leon Edwards:
“I hate [Leon’s] guts. They’re trying to avoid me, him downplaying my accomplishments… that stuff does nothing but piss me off.
It’s fuelling me with hatred for this guy and I just can’t wait to get in there and get my hands on him.… pic.twitter.com/y8kcqJSMYO

In a revealing interview on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Edwards’ manager, Tim Simpson, confirmed that Muhammad was not among the fighters considered for the bout. This revelation further compounds Muhammad’s frustration and sense of being overlooked by the promotion.
Despite the setback, Muhammad remains eager for a chance to compete and has made his availability known for upcoming events, including UFC 301, UFC 302, UFC 303, or UFC 304. However, the lack of clarity surrounding his future in the division continues to be a source of frustration for the talented welterweight contender.
