As CCXP MX kicks off, fans are in for a treat with Tim Burton’s sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice taking center stage in Mexico City. A sprawling exhibit, complete with eerie neon lights, invites visitors to explore the afterlife firsthand. Even if you can’t attend, Collider’s Steve Weintraub captured some spine-chilling photos for those at home.
The exhibit features a bold neon sign guiding visitors to the entrance, adorned with the infamous instruction from the Handbook for the Recently Deceased: “Draw a door and knock 3 times.” Inside, attendees can grab a ticket and brave a seat next to a pair of severed legs, or dare to summon Beetlejuice himself by saying his name three times.
While the exhibit offers a nod to the original film, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice focuses on three generations of the Deetz family. Lydia, played by Winona Ryder, finds herself once again entangled with Beetlejuice, this time alongside her teenage daughter Astrid, portrayed by Jenna Ortega.
Chaos ensues when Astrid accidentally opens a portal to the Afterlife, setting the stage for Beetlejuice’s mischievous return.
The sequel promises to capture the charm of the original, with Burton’s signature stop-motion animation and practical effects. Collider’s Britta DeVore praised the film’s vibrant visuals, reminiscent of Burton’s classic style.
Joining the cast are familiar faces like Catherine O’Hara reprising her role as Delia, along with newcomers including Willem Dafoe and Justin Theroux.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice hits theaters on September 6, offering fans a long-awaited return to the beloved world of the mischievous bio-exorcist.
