Despite AEW trailing behind WWE in attendance and ratings, the promotion has shown dominance in the free agent market.
In the last five months, AEW has successfully outbid WWE for the services of Will Ospreay, Kazuchika Okada, and Mercedes Martinez, who are arguably among the most coveted free agents in recent times. Now, it seems they are poised to make another significant addition to their roster.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, known as the Motor City Machine Guns, are in the final stages of negotiations to join AEW.
While the deal’s closure may take some time, Shelley and Sabin have reportedly made their decision, with only the finer details left to be ironed out before they officially become part of the “All Elite” roster.
Considered by many as one of the most influential tag teams in modern wrestling, Sabin and Shelley have an impressive track record.
They have held tag team titles nine times across various promotions, including AAW, Deadlock Pro Wrestling, GCW, New Japan, Ring of Honor, and TNA Wrestling.
Their stint in TNA, where they won the tag titles thrice and garnered numerous singles accolades, stands as a testament to their success.
Moreover, Sabin and Shelley are not unfamiliar faces to AEW. They previously competed in a match at All Out 2022, teaming up with Jay Lethal to face Wardlow and FTR’s Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood.
Despite the loss in that encounter, their arrival promises to add depth and excitement to AEW’s tag team division.
