Adam “Edge” Copeland, the current TNT Champion in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has been making waves in the professional wrestling world since his debut at WrestleDream last year.
In a recent appearance on AEW Unrestricted with Aubrey Edwards and Will Washington, Copeland shared some fascinating insights into the preparations for his debut, including the mastermind behind his iconic entrance vignette.
Copeland revealed that it was none other than Darby Allin who played a significant role in bringing his vision to life.
The Rated-R Superstar had an idea for the vignette, which showed him driving a muscle car around the streets, and he knew just the person to call upon for help.
“I had heard Darby was the guy for that, so I just cold-called him, said ‘Hey Darb, man nice to meet you, I’m coming to the company, and can you get me a muscle car?'” Copeland recalled.
The WWE Hall of Famer went on to describe the chaotic yet exciting day of filming the vignette with Allin and John Carlo.
It marked the first time they had worked together, and it laid the foundation for what would become an unforgettable debut at WrestleDream.
In addition to sharing behind-the-scenes stories about his debut, Copeland also opened up about his experience in AEW so far. In an appearance on Swerve Strickland’s Swerve City podcast, he discussed how coming into AEW felt like starting with a blank slate.
With 98% of the roster being new faces for him, Copeland saw this as an opportunity to create something fresh and exciting.
He has certainly made the most of it, facing off against several major stars and enjoying every moment of it. From Suzuki to Penta to Cardona, Copeland has been all over the place, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
As he continues to add to his list of accomplishments in AEW, one thing is clear – Adam “Edge” Copeland is loving every minute of his new chapter in professional wrestling.
