In a shocking turn of events, WWE RAW General Manager Adam Pearce announced that former Women’s Tag Team Champion Zelina Vega has been pulled out of the Queen of the Ring Tournament due to a legitimate injury. Vega, who won the Queen’s Crown Tournament in 2021, was scheduled to defend her crown in the 2024 Queen of the Ring Tournament, but unfortunately, she will not be able to participate.
Vega was set to face Shayna Baszler in the first round of the tournament at a WWE live event in Macon, Georgia, but Pearce took to social media to reveal that the 33-year-old had suffered an injury and was not cleared to compete. As a result, Maxxine Dupri will replace her in the tournament.
This development means that WWE will crown a new Queen of the Ring at the upcoming premium live event in Saudi Arabia. The tournament is still filled with top superstars vying for the crown, including Bianca Belair, Nia Jax, and Jade Cargill. In fact, ex-WWE star Matt Morgan expressed his support for Cargill, stating on his Gigantic Pop podcast that she should win the tournament.
Cargill has already advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Piper Niven in the first round. She will now face Nia Jax in the next round, making her a strong contender for the crown. With Vega out of the picture, the competition is wide open, and it will be interesting to see who will ultimately emerge as the new Queen of the Ring.
The Queen of the Ring Tournament is one of the most prestigious events in WWE, and the cancellation of Vega’s participation has added an extra layer of excitement and unpredictability to the competition. Will Cargill’s momentum carry her to the top, or will another superstar rise to the challenge? The WWE universe will have to wait and see.
