The highly anticipated Robin Hood project, “The Death Of Robin Hood,” is gathering a star-studded cast, with acclaimed actors Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer taking the lead roles.
According to Deadline, the film will be helmed by Michael Sarnoski, known for his work on “A Quiet Place: Day One,” who will both write and direct. Aaron Ryder, producer of “The Prestige,” joins the production team, with filming slated to commence in February 2025.
“The Death Of Robin Hood” offers a darker, reimagined take on the classic tale, getting into the struggles of the titular character as he grapples with his past of crime and violence. After sustaining severe injuries, Robin Hood encounters a mysterious woman who presents him with an opportunity for redemption.
Sarnoski expresses his excitement for reinventing the legendary figure of Robin Hood and collaborating with the talented Jackman and Comer, stating,
“Securing the perfect cast to transform the script to screen was essential. I could not be more thrilled and trusting in Hugh and Jodie to bring this story to life in a powerful and meaningful way.”
As production gears up, Ryder and Andrew Swett will produce under their Ryder Picture Company (RPC) banner alongside Alexander Black for Lyrical Media. Lyrical Media’s Jon Rosenberg and Natalie Sellers will executive produce, with Rama Gottumukkala, Sarnoski, and Jackman also on board. Lyrical Media is fully financing the film.
Ryder and Swett highlight the film’s departure from the traditional Robin Hood narrative, emphasizing its grounded and visceral approach. Black expresses enthusiasm for the project and praises the collaboration with Sarnoski, Jackman, and Comer.
This collaboration marks another milestone for Lyrical Media and RPC, following their recent work on “Onslaught” and “Bruiser.” “The Death Of Robin Hood” will be presented at the Cannes Film Festival through WME Independent. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project.
